Spark your creativity
We all experience moments when our creativity wavers. That’s normal. If we were constantly able to perform at 100% than we’d all be successful writers, entrepreanuers, teachers, investors, and motivational speakers, doctors, teachers, and shrinks may be out of a job.
Being creative according to the Cambridge Learners Dictionary is ‘producing or using original and unusual ideas.’ It’s hard to come up with something completely original, but you can try to use it in a different way.
Exercise 1 – If you’re always writing, take a break and try another creative activity. I love taking photos, and sometimes when it’s a nice day, and I just don’t feel like writing, I take the camera and head to a nice park or tourist attraction and take photos. If photography is not your thing, you can draw, paint, build or do a jigsaw puzzle. Once you’re done, describe it in words - note down the shapes, colours, people. Answer, who? what? where? why? what if? And see if a story emerges
‘Creativity is a type of learning process where the teacher and pupil are located in the same individual.‘ - Arthur Koestler
